Public Sector Governance Strengthening

Good governance remains vital to fostering economic growth and development. However, its absence has hindered growth and development in emerging and developing economies leading to community conflicts.

Public Sector Governance Strengthening

To overturn these trends, elaborate public governance & administration systems, reform and strengthening are needed to aid governments in achieving their socioeconomic goals.

Reforms enhance efficiency and transparency and focus on the development efforts of governments.

Our Governance intervention areas include;

Policy Development and Delivery:

Policies and guidelines define the route towards achieving government objectives. Weak policy and service delivery structures result in resource wastage and poor service delivery. The need for sound policy and service delivery mechanisms and systems across the government is imperative for effective service delivery. We support organisations in developing policies and structures needed for service delivery.

Civil Service Development and Reform:

The civil service sector is responsible for developing and delivering government programmes and services to the people. A competent civil service with pre-requisite skills and expertise remains key to effective service delivery to the public.

Developing Countries are characterised by unqualified and inexperienced civil service sectors wielding poor service delivery. The need to have a competent civil service to provide services to the public is imperative.

Our experience in civil service sector reform and strengthening has resulted in building robust public administration systems, improving service delivery and ensuring that resources reach the most vulnerable in society rather than enriching a privileged few.

Administration Support and Strengthening:

strong>Government institutions receive funds and support from donors and other sources to carry out their mandate. However, little regard is given to the technical assistance needed to carry out their assignments, leaving them to implement and spend resources haphazardly.

We offer administrative and technical support to ensure effective and efficient project implementation aligned with programme aspirations.

Social Protection:

Social protection is usually ignored and jeopardised in developing economies, majorly conflict-stricken, leaving communities vulnerable and exposed to external attrition. We design effective and comprehensive social protection policies and strategies and support their implementation to protect the less fortunate and vulnerable groups in society.

Civil Society strengthening and Accountability:

In developing economies, the people’s voice must be heard and addressed to make their governments accountable for service delivery. We build capacities in civil societies and organised groups/institutions mandated to monitor governments’ service delivery systems to make them understand and appreciate their role in monitoring service delivery.
